The MDC-T's door-to-door campaign launched two months ago faces collapse after police in Harare arrested 5 more party activists over the weekend over allegations of conducting an illegal voter education exercise.
The latest arrests bring to 24 the number of MDC-T supporters arrested so far over the same allegations since last month.
MDC-T Harare provincial spokesperson Obert Gutu said the 5 party members were arrested in Msasa on Saturday and charged with contravening section 40 of the Zimbabwe Electoral Act, which forbids individuals from conducting voter education without seeking permission from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.
