TWO brothers accused of taking turns to be intimate and impregnating their church-mate's 14-year-old daughter while he was at work have appeared in court.
Simbarashe (20) and his elder brother Bright Kazanhu (27) of GB 28 Rugare in Kambuzuma, Harare, were not asked to plead to charges of sleeping with a minor.
They appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo, who remanded them to May 21 on $200 apiece.
Circumstances are that on dates unknown to prosecutor Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa sometime in December last year, the duo was invited by the girl's father to come and stay at his home as he went to work in Marondera.
At the time, the girl was staying with her aunt in Glen Norah since it was a school holiday. She returned home after the holiday and stayed with the duo. During her stay, Simbarashe proposed love to her and she agreed.
He asked for sexual favours from the minor but she refused. She later gave in and they were intimate on several occasions. After that, Bright did the same. The father discovered the pregnancy on his return.
