The trial for Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's staffers who are facing charges of contravening the Official Secrets Act has been postponed to Thursday after the presiding magistrate failed to turn up.
The defense counsel representing Thabani Mpofu, Felix Matsinde, Warship Dumba and Mehluli Tshuma who were arrested in March this year together with prominent human rights lawyer Beatrice Mthetwa described the no-show by the magistrate as an attempt to keep the PM staffers in suspense.
The four are on US$500 bail each.
"The magistrate did not turn up and this is just a further attempt to delay the process. We are not even sure which magistrate will handle the case because they keep remanding us to different courts," Chris Mhike who is representing the four said.
"There is no clarity as to who would handle the case," Mhike said.
