The MDC-T last week suspended two of its district officials over allegations of fomenting divisions within the party.
Chinhoyi district chairman Edward Kadewere last Thursday confirmed the suspension of Ward 8 and 14 chairpersons Claudius Nyamhondoro and Harrison Phiri following the disappearance of an aspiring councillor's curriculum vitae (CV).
They have also been accused of failing to invite those interested in being party's candidates in the forthcoming harmonised elections to submit their papers for vetting.
"Indeed, the two officials have been suspended," said Kadewere.
"They have since been served with their letters of suspension which outline that their conduct violated provisions of the party's constitution.
"They face charges of creating or promoting divisions within the party, engaging in illegal or corrupt electoral practices, undermining respect for or impeding the functions of the party structures, among others."
According to suspension letters gleaned by NewsDay, an aspiring Ward 8 councillor Francesca Zulu submitted her CV to Nyamhondoro for onward transmission to the vetting committee.
The CV reportedly disappeared before it was scrutinised by the adjudication panel chaired by Nyamhondoro.
Nyamhondoro was summoned twice for disciplinary hearings which he did not attend. According to the suspension letters, Phiri is accused of failing to convene meetings to mobilise those who wanted to be party candidates.
The Ward 14 chair reportedly admitted taking only the CV of Chipo Mlotshwa, who is also current Chinhoyi mayor.
Phiri is further charged with failing to set up a vetting committee.
In terms of the suspensions, the pair will "not be allowed to chair, organise, attend, receive, communicate, co-ordinate, transmit and to disseminate information regarding party activities".
