ZANU-PF Women's League boss Oppah Muchinguri has reportedly fallen in love with a young Mbare-based clergyman.

Sources close to the former Cabinet minister said she is now happily married to the man of cloth who has also been a resident of the United States. The marriage is, according to insiders, a fulfilment of a prophecy Muchinguri received from charismatic Nigerian Prophet TB Joshua.

"She is very happy and in love. Although they have not been seen in public Muchinguri seems ready to flaunt her new-found toy around," a source said.

Asked by reporters a few months ago if she had found love, Muchinguri said: "It is none of your business. There are a lot of things you people can write about. Has anybody asked you about your personal life? In fact when the time comes you will be the first to know. It is probably in December,"

Muchinguri who is reportedly now a 'Mai Mufundisi' was however not available for comment yesterday.

Efforts by this paper to get comment proved fruitless. The Mutare-born Zanu PF beauty is not all looks but she is reported to have a packing political brain.

Muchinguri has been linked to Zanu PF's acrimonious succession battles on the side of defence minister Emmerson Mnangagwa against another camp fronted by deputy president Joice Mujuru.

She was previously married to struggling Botswana-based trader Tapiwa Rushesha and their marriage ended in the late 1990s in a messy divorce, and she reverted to her family name of Muchinguri.

The vivacious Muchinguri has been linked to several men including some very high ranking government officials.

Harare's rumour mill went agog in the mid-90s when the late Dendera Legend Simon Chimbetu penned a song in which he extolled the virtues of an imaginary woman by the name "Oppah".

Media reports in the late 1990s claimed Muchinguri had a public scuffle with First Lady Grace Mugabe at Harare Airport over earrings allegedly bought for her by President Robert Mugabe. According to the report, Grace had then ordered Muchinguri off the plane bound for a foreign trip.

During the acrimonious divorce and child custody proceedings, Muchinguri's former husband Rushesha told the courts that he had been upset that Mugabe often sent his bodyguards to pick up his wife for "meetings" in the middle of the night.
