Dad runs over his own son, killing him

A father accidentally killed his own 19-month-old son while reversing his car at a family driveway on Monday morning in Chitungwiza.
According to a family spokesman Mr Welly Matinyadza, it appeared the child was attempting to follow his father when the incident occurred at house number 20141 Unit G Extension.
He said the father Mr Itai Matinyadza knocked down his son Michael while reversing unaware he was following him.
"Itai thought that the baby was already asleep and while reversing he unknowingly knocked down the child," he said.
He said the child later died at Chitungwiza Hospital after sustaining serious head injuries.
"Even the postmortem showed that his head had been damaged badly," he said.
"It's a very sad and tragic incident that has shocked everyone here."
He said the couple were deeply affected by the tragedy.
