In yet another case of suspected witchcraft, Lochinvar family on Wednesday got the scare of their life when a naked woman ran into their backyard in broad day light.
Several theories circulated, with some suspecting her to be a 'witch' while others suspected her to be a woman of questionable sanity. Others suspected that she might have been bewitched for sleeping with a married man, judging by her sexually suggestive moves.
The woman was found at House No. 1 Chestnut Avenue in her chocolate-coloured birthday suit around 2 O'clock in the afternoon by the inhabitants, giving them quite a scare. The house owner, Joyce Mayimbo (57) smeared snuff (bute) on her to make her talk. This however proved futile.
The woman is alleged to have run into the yard, asking for undergarments.
"I was sitting on the chair and I just saw the woman running saying 'ndipeiwo bhurugwa' (give me an underwear) and she lay down. That is when I ran to call my mother to see the naked woman. Mom came out with a blanket and this as around 2pm," said Sekai Mapiringanwa, one of the first witnesses.
Neighbours are said to have quickly stormed into the yard to catch a glimpse of the naked woman, who was later covered with a blanket.
Some sources revealed that she had come from Tobacco Sales Floors (TSF) where farmers are selling their produce.
The landlord, Mayimbo, said: "I was called by Mai Linda (Mapiringanwa) and she was saying there was a naked woman who had entered our yard. When I arrived she said she wanted something to cover herself with and some underwear."
The woman began making sexually suggestive moves before acting as if she wanted to vomit. As if that wasn't enough, the woman showed other female onlookers modelling moves that would no doubt win her today's Miss Carnival pageant if she was to participate.
