President Robert Mugabe has commended the Zimbabwe Military Academy in Gweru for its commitment to providing the nation with exemplary and loyal future military leaders.
President Mugabe was speaking at a pass out parade of 79 Officer Cadets, who completed their 20 month long course.
He said despite economic sanctions, the academy has continued to show commitment to fulfilling its mandate of moulding young men and women of the country into competent and professional junior officers in the defence forces.
Mugabe said the visit by the graduates to Chimoio in Mozambique and Freedom Camp in Zambia was important as it allowed the Officer Cadets to appreciate the disturbing events that characterised the struggle for independence.
He said the graduation of five Namibian Officer Cadets shows the cordial relations between the two countries.
The 29th Regular Officer Cadet Course covers specific subjects, among them communication, military law, command and leadership.
