PRIME Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's office has dismissed as misleading, state media reports claiming he was snubbed by the African Union which is holding its 50th anniversary celebrations at its Addis Ababa headquarters in Ethiopia.
Tsvangirai's spokesman Luke Tamborinyoka said the MDC-T leader could not have been snubbed by the continental body when Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara was attending the summit with President Robert Mugabe.
Tamborinyoka said the MDC-T leader had confirmed meetings scheduled with the leaders of Malawi, Namibia and Zambia on the side-lines of the summit but pulled out of the trip after his wife fell ill.
Both the Herald and State radio claimed Tsvangirai cancelled his trip to Ethiopia after an advance team of surrogate organisations dispatched to highlight the need for further reforms before new elections failed to get any attention at the summit.
Tamborinyoka slammed the state media for continuing to be in denial over Tsvangirai's "legitimate" position in government.
