Acting President Joice Mujuru says the nation has lost a fountain of security and a dedicated cadre following the death of the late Elias Kanengoni.
Speaking at the National Heroes Acre during the burial of the late Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) Deputy Director (Internal) and former Zanu PF Central Committee member, Mujuru said it was because of people like Kanengoni that regime change proponents have failed to accomplish their goals of dislodging the revolutionary party and replacing it with their puppets in the past years.
She urged colleagues of the late Kanengoni and Zimbabweans at large to take a cue from the late cadre by ensuring that the country remains secure while maintaining peace all the time.
Mujuru described Kanengoni as an outstanding personality who did not limit himself to his work alone but became a successful farmer who proved that black farmers are competent.
Mujuru said: "Kanengoni was a moving encyclopedia, an outstanding example of the unique human intelligence counted among many intelligence officers in the country."
She called on other farmers to emulate the late Kanengoni who was committed to ensuring the success of the agricultural sector.
"His (Kanengoni) intelligence was not only for security reasons but he was a successful farmer who proved that black people are competent in farming," said Mujuru.
Mujuru expressed shock at the death of Kanengoni whose Chimurenga name was Kudzonga Mabhunu saying it is sad that his death comes hard on the heels of yet another national hero, Major General Jevana Maseko (Retired) who was buried at the national shrine this Sunday.
Acting President Mujuru also called for Zimbabweans to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the upcoming harmonised elections despite differences in political affiliations.
