President Robert Mugabe has left the country for japan to attend the fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

President Mugabe will join other leaders from Africa, Japan, Asia and representatives of development partners.

The conference is being co-hosted by the government of Japan, the African Union Commission, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank.

The conference will be held under the theme: 'Hand in Hand With a More Dynamic Africa.'
Participants to the conference will look for ways of keeping Africa's current economic growth on a stable path and extend the benefits of the development to all spheres of society.

Since its formation in 1993, TICAD has developed into a major international framework to facilitate implementation of measures for promoting African development under the dual principles of African ownership and international partnership.

The main objectives of TICAD are to promote high level policy dialogue between African leaders and their partners and to mobilise support for African owned development initiatives.
