The mainstream Movement for Democratic Change (MDC-T) Standing Committee on Monday descended on Bulawayo province and whipped the party provincial feuding faction leaders Gorden Moyo and Matson Hlalo into line, before ordering an immediate stop to intra-party violence.

On Friday serious violence erupted at MDC-T provincial offices along Fort Street which saw one youth member being stabbed and 13 arrested.

Police were called as Bulawayo city centre had been turned into another Egypt's Tahrir Square as the feuding factions' supporters were pelting each other with stones.

The Hlalo faction supporters were crying foul after some of their colleagues from Mpopoma and Pelandaba constituencies had been barred from voting in the provincial elections.

However on Monday, MDC highest decision making body, the Standing Committee led by the party President Morgan Tsvangirai, landed in Bulawayo and called for an emergency meeting with Hlalo, Moyo and their supporters in the province.

Speaking to journalists after the two hour meeting which was held at the party provincial offices MDC-T spokesperson, Nelson Chamisa, said the meeting was very open and transparent adding that Bulawayo provincial elections will be held on Tuesday.

"We had a good meeting with leaders of the so-called provincial factions and the president has ordered a stop to all this nonsense.

Bulawayo provincial election will be held Tuesday under a very peaceful environment. No delegates will be barred from these provincial elections," said Chamisa.

Chamisa said "the party national leaders have already compiled a list of those who were causing problems in Bulawayo and they will receive their punishment during the party national congress starting Thursday".

There were fears that MDC-T's Bulawayo province will go to the party's national congress this week without a substantive executive as provincial assembly were continuously being aborted owing to violent clashes between feuding factions.
