Man jailed 12 years for raping maid

A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping a housemaid for his brother's landlord.

Richman Kutala of Norton dragged the 15-year-old girl from the kitchen to the bedroom and took her v1rginity.

Regional magistrate Hosea Mujaya had slapped Kutala with a 15-year jail term but suspended three years on condition Kutala does not commit a similar offence within five years of his release.

The court heard that on November 15 last year, Kutala and the housemaid were left alone at the house.

Kutala then went to fetch water at the borehole leaving the girl at the house. She later went to play next door.

When Kutala returned, the teenage girl started doing her chores in the kitchen.

Kutala asked  for water containers from the girl but she refused to give him.

Facts are that he pestered her and even chased the girl around the house before locking the exit door.

He dragged her to his brother's bedroom. He f*ndled the girl who cried pleading with him to stop but he continued.

The teenage rapist pushed the girl onto the bed, pinned her down and raped her.

When the girl's employer returned from work that evening, she reported the rape leading to Kutala's arrest.
