The second mobile voter registration exercise, which is in preparation for the harmonised elections to be held before the 31st of next month, kicks off this coming Monday (10 June) following the completion of the voter education.
The exercise is expected to end on the 9th of July.
Announcing the resumption of the exercise in Harare this Wednesday afternoon, Registrar General (RG) Tobaiwa Mudede said the exercise will focus mainly on the issuance of national identity cards for those who have attained the voting age, voter registration and inspection of the voters roll.
He said those wishing to obtain birth certificates and national identity cards and are below the voting age should continue to obtain them from their district offices to allow swift registration of those who want to take part in the forthcoming elections.
The RG announced that contrary to the two teams deployed in the last exercise, the number of registration teams has been doubled to four per district to ensure that every ward country-wide is covered during the exercise.
Mr Mudede implored all eligible voters to inspect the voters roll for confirmation of correct details.
The mobile registration units will open at seven in the morning to seven in the evening Monday to Friday and at seven in the morning to five in the evening on Saturday and Sunday.
The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has announced that treasury has disbursed some US$25 million for the exercise which is supposed to pave way for the holding of harmonised elections as the inclusive government's life reaches the finishing line on the 29th of this month.
