PROMINENT preacher Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa has been questioned by police investigating the alleged theft of a mobile phone.
The United Family International Church preacher said police were following up on a complaint by a man from Seke in Chitungwiza.
"He told police he gave me a phone in the hope that would unlock blessings, but his life had not changed," Makandiwa told a church conference at Belvedere Teachers' College in Harare on Wednesday night.
"What he doesn't know is that at the same time he was making his complaint, I had three buckets full of phones at my house. When some people were coming to me with financial problems, I would just pick a phone and tell them to sell it and raise money."
Makandiwa did not name his accuser, but he hinted that police had since dropped the investigation.
He made the revelations about the phone while discussing offerings and gifts to church ministers at a five-day conference organised by Apostle Tavonga Vutabwashe's Heartfelt International Ministries being held under the theme 'Marketplace Breakthrough Summit'.
"The problem with church people is that they come every time and eat, come every time and receive but they offer nothing back. A doctor would tell you that continuous eating without releasing will result in constipation," he told a crowd of about 600 worshippers who included trainee student teachers.
