A Bindura man, 28, last week fatally axed his wife and hanged himself on a tree following a domestic dispute.
William Matope of Prefusis Farm axed Mirriam Gombwe (19) and later on hanged
himself on a tree after a domestic dispute in which he accused her of having an affair.
Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Petros Masikati confirmed the incident.
"We received a report of one William Matope who fatally axed his wife Mirriam Gombwe before hanging himself on a tree after a domestic dispute in which he accused his wife of having an extra marital affair.
"Investigations into the matter are in progress," Asst Insp Masikati said.
It is alleged that on the morning of June 5, Gombwe left their homestead and proceeded to her ex-husband's homestead with the intention of sharing property.
When she arrived at her ex-husband's house it is alleged that he refused to share the property without the presence of the farm chairperson, who was not available prompting Gombwe to return to her homestead.
When Gombwe arrived at her homestead at around midday it is reported that Matope confronted her and demanded to know where she was coming from prompting a heated argument, leading to the deaths.
