MDC-T poll victory celebrations turn tragic

Primary elections victory celebrations for MDC-T winning candidate, Allan Moyo turned tragic on Saturday after one of his hired vehicles ran over and killed a party official while skidding in Masvingo central.
Supporters who were celebrating Moyo's victory after trouncing three other contestants, suddenly turned into mourning after, the driver of a small truck ferrying them, hit Edmore Mazhura, ward 22 chairperson in Masvingo Central Constituency.
The truck driven by Malvern Moyo was skidding at Mashate business centre with supporters singing in jubilation. The vehicle allegedly ran over Mazhura who was also celebrating.
He was rushed to Masvingo General Hospital where he died on admission.
MDC-T Masvingo Central District chairperson, Arnold Batirai confirmed the tragedy.
"It is unfortunate that we lost one of our officials Mazhura, after he was run over by one of our vehicles while celebrating the victory of our candidate Allan Moyo.
"We did not expect that our celebrations would turn tragic. Mazhula was an active member of our party and his role in the constituency will be greatly missed," Batirai said.
He said Mazhura was buried yesterday in Gunukuni Village 11.
Moyo romped to victory after outshining Innocent Munazo, Hardlife Janyure and Mercy Mudzanire Nongera, prophet Eubert Angel's sister.
Masvingo police spokesperson, Inspector Peter Zhanero said they were yet to get the report.
"We haven't received that report as yet but we will try to find our from colleges in that area," he said.
