Exiled businessman, and Telecel Zimbabwe boss, James Makamba has been awarded a doctorate from a university based in the Philippines.

He was awarded a Doctorate in Business Leadership by St. Linus University, Dominica which is the same university which honoured Philip Chiyangwa with a PHD.

The university said that Chiyangwa was accorded a PhD in Business Leadership in recognition of his "business acumen and sterling contribution to society."

Chiyangwa travelled to the Philippines to receive the honour. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Some described the university as dubious but Chiyangwa brushed this aside.

Linus University, whose headquarters are in the Dominican Republic, says on its website it "complies with all applicable national and international laws, regulations and generally accepted practices".

Makamba received his doctorate from Dr Pythias Chenjerayi Chovava who is the university's regional president. Makamba said the official conferment will be held on the 29th of June.

To celebrate Makamba said he was giving away many prizes.

"In celebrating my Doctorate, I will be giving away many prizes. For example Mega Juice Air Time Vouchers, T Shirts, footballs, caps, umbrellas," he said on his Facebook page.

Chamu Chiwanza, Affirmative Action Group (A.A.G) Sr. Vice President and National Chairman of the Zimbabwe Youth Council  has congratulated the businessman on his honour.

Chiwanza in his congratulatory message said "We have come to witness a historic event in the recognition of a leader of empowerment architects, manufactures of indeginisation with the likes of Philip Chiyangwa and Peter Pamire. This is not recognition to Dr. Makamba only, but to us as proponents of empowerment. Thanks for being such an inspiration."
