A NYAZURA commercial farmer is suing Zesa subsidiary, Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company for US$700 000 for refusing to reinstall electricity at her farm saying it led to the demise of her 30 hectares of tobacco and 20 hectares of sugar beans due to moisture stress.
Dr Chido Matewa the owner of Dagbreek Farm argues that sometime in October 2009, ZETDC officials went to her farm and unlawfully removed meter boxes, cables, MCBs and other electrical gadgets.
The matter is yet to be heard at the High Court.
Dr Matewa who is represented by lawyers Venturas and Samukange argues that sometime in May 2009, ZETDC chief executive Mr Ben Rafemoyo upon hearing her report tasked a Harare Loss Control Department to investigate the removal of electrical implements at her farm.
She said a Mr Mhike from ZETDC confirmed that it was the company which had removed the equipment.
