A 35-year-old man from Masvingo who feigned insanity to avoid conviction for unruly behaviour has been fined $50 after being found guilty of splashing police officers with urine.
Morris Munanairi of 3200 Muchecheni Street in Mucheke B was convicted on his own plea of guilty to a charge of public indecency when he appeared before Masvingo magistrate Ms Dorothy Mwanyisa on Wednesday.
For the State, Ms Mukai Mutumhe told the court that on 28 May at about 10pm Munanairi who was drunk was sleeping on the pavement outside Pro-Feeds Hardware along Bradburn Street.
He was awakened by police officers who were on night patrol. When Munanairi woke up he threatened to assault the police officers.
He unzipped his trousers and began to urinate, squirting the urine towards the police officers. The officers warned him against his unruly behaviour but he was not deterred and instead began to utter obscenities at them.
Police later subdued Munanairi and arrested him.
