AN MDC-T activist Ernest Banda had his home in Highfield, Harare petrol-bombed in the early hours of Friday in a suspected case of intra-party violence ahead of the party's primary elections on Saturday. No one was injured in the incident.
Banda told ZBC News that he awoke early Friday morning to find part of his house burning. He was assisted by neighbours to extinguish the fire.
Mr Banda said he suspects that his house was attacked by people sent by a member of his MDC-T party who is an aspiring candidate for Highfield West constituency.
He alleged the person had been sending him threats via cellphone text messages, adding that he was targeted as he has links with the sitting House of Assembly member Mr Simon Hove.
The matter was reported at Machipisa Police Station under RRB number 1800197.
Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the incident and said initial investigations are pointing to a case of intra-party violence.
