THE business community has urged the Government to hold elections now and get them over with.
In a communiqué released at the just ended Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) congress in Victoria Falls, members and delegates were of the view that the country cannot be in electioneering mode for ever.
"ZNCC collective resolution to the GNU signatories. We are pleading with them to get over with elections. As long as elections are pending business will continue to suffer.
Everything else is secondary as politics is driving the economy instead of the other way round," reads the communiqu√ɬ©.
President Mugabe has issued a proclamation setting 31 July as the date for the harmonised elections.
Members were also of the view that policy makers should listen to business concerns and come up with positive policies for business growth and development of the national economy.
The congress was running under the theme, "The Road Map to the Zimbabwe's Desired Future: Defining the possibilities that deliver  value."
"Policy makers should be policy consistent to create certainty and enabling environment for industry to operate in. Policy makers should develop policies that talk to each other, specific and goal oriented, also draft these policies as a team," said the communiqué.
On human capital, the congress resolved that there was the need to revise the educational curriculum to meet the demands of the industry for example talent identification at early stages of pupils at school as they go for tertiary education.
"There is need to consider seriously the role of polytechnics and universities in delivering value to Zimbabwean economy. Industry should be involved in the curriculum development, assessment in these higher and tertiary institutions.
"It seems industry does not see that without skilled manpower it cannot move. A symbiosis between industry and the polytechnics and universities is imperative for a better Zimbabwe."
