The UNWTO Inter-Ministerial Committee has concluded its assessments of the facilities in Victoria Falls ahead of the final inspections by the UNWTO Inspectorate Team next week.

The assessment began with a tour of the current renovations being undertaken by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls Airport terminal.

The refurbishments will see the terminal having ATM services among other services and also incorporate temporary structures that will be set up a few days before the General Assembly.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructural Development, Mr Munesu Munodawafa said government is satisfied with the progress that has been made at the airport as well as the town centre where road rehabilitation has almost been completed.

He however emphasized that the other parts of the airport which are undergoing construction are not targeted at the General Assembly.

The committee also visited the site for the opening ceremony, the host hotel and Victoria Falls Hospital which is currently undergoing refurbishments.

The UNWTO Inspectorate Team is expected to arrive in Livingstone, Zambia on the 26th and conduct assessments before proceeding to Victoria Falls for the final inspections from the 28th to the 29th of this month.
