The MDC-T is ready and geared for elections anytime but want key reforms to be in place so that what happened in 2008 is not repeated, Morgan Tsvangirai has said.
He said this while addressing over 2000 party supporters at Manjolo Business Centre in Binga South on Thursday.
He said that the key reforms that should be implemented include security sector realignment and media reforms.
"This time when the MDC-T wins the mandate of the people in the next elections, the will of the people should be accepted. The MDC-T will not allow a situation where a person who loses in an election is brought into government through coalition," said Tsvangirai.
He urged the people of Binga to vote against marginalisation and neglect saying this was the worst form and enemy number one.
"Zimbabwe can never be a colony again. Not for defending what is wrong but defending what is right. As the MDC-T, we have to finish what we started 14 years ago by voting for the MDC-T in the coming elections," he said.
He acknowledged that Binga has massive economic potential, which can be utilised to employ the majority of people in the vast area.
"I have seen coal deposits but that is dead capital because it is not utilised for the benefit and development of the people. The road network to Gokwe and Harare is bad. We have to do things the right way and open doors to tourism," said Tsvangirai.
"In the past 30 years government has neglected the people. Since the year 2000, you have not improved while there is so much wealth in the area. In this area we have fish, gas, coal deposits. So the MDC-T intends that those natural resources benefit the people of Binga and other communities," he said.
Later in the day, Tsvangirai met with the MDC-T Binga North and South party structures at Binga Centre where he implored them on the need to increase the MDC-T's vote in the coming elections.
He said the next election was about winning power for the president and this meant that the transfer of power from Robert Mugabe to Tsvangirai.
Thokozani Khupe told the party structures that when they vote for the MDC-T in the next elections they will be voting for food, employment, and a change for the better in their lives. She urged the people to preserve their vote and vote for the MDC-T.
"The MDC-T promises to change the lives of the women from the burden of day to day activities so that those in rural areas and towns are not different because they will be having electricity, clean water, better service delivery, improved education and health," said Khupe.
President Tsvangirai was accompanied Khupe, Women's Assembly chairperson, Theresa Makone and the national deputy organising secretary, Abednico Bhebhe.
Today, the President met community leaders at Nkosikazi Village 1 in Bubi and was later the guest of honour at a field day at the homestead of VP Khupe. After the field day, he adressed a rally in the area.
