President Robert Mugabe has commissioned 40 graders, front loaders and other earthmoving equipment which are part of the US$16 million consignment for the rehabilitation of gravel roads across the country.

The first of a batch of 40 graders under the road authorities' recapitalisation and maintenance programme was commissioned by Mugabe at a handover ceremony held in Harare.

The graders procured by Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) were handed over to the department of roads, district development fund, urban and rural district councils to help them rehabilitate the gravel roads that are in bad shape.

Under the US$16 million road recapitalisation and maintenance programme, each road authority will be equipped with a minimum of a motorised grader, front loader, two tippers, a roller and a dumper.
