The Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment, Saviour Kasukuwere says the newly launched National Youth Policy provides guidelines on how youths can play a role in nation building.
Speaking at launch of the policy at the Harare International Conference Centre, Kasukuwere said youths constitute over 70 percent of the country's population, adding that they should be empowered.
"People under the age of 35 constitute at least 70 percent of the country's population. The launch of the youth policy is government's show of commitment to the development of young people.
"The ministry will ensure the success and implementation of the policy," said Kasukuwere.
He said the document conscientises the youths to fight against the colonial mentality, thereby creating a platform for active participation in economic development in the country.
