A local funeral company has committed itself to unlock the value of football supporters by introducing a policy plan that will see premiership teams benefitting 10 percent of every registered fan's contribution.
It is a first that will unlock the real value of football supporters in complimenting financial assistance towards premiership clubs.
The scheme unveiled by Nyaradzo Funeral Services will see teams benefitting 10 percent of every supporter's subscriptions and free cover being given to 50 players or members of their favourite football club.
"We want the clubs to be weaned off the dependence syndrome through empowering them to generate their own financial capacity. We seek to unlock the untapped financial capacity for the clubs, not only to attract, recruit and retain star players, but also build infrastructure and to develop and nurture young talent," said Phillip Mataranyika, the CEO of Nyaradzo Funeral Services.
As a catch to encourage the football supporters to start playing a part in alleviating local teams perennial financial woes, the funeral company also sourced six buses for six premiership teams.
First to receive their buses were Caps United and police outfit Black Mambas, while two more will soon be delivered to league giants Dynamos and Highlanders.
With enough support, the development will generate thousands of dollars for local clubs through their supporters' contributions, thus improving the administration of local clubs who will now be able to pay their players decently and reduce the brain drain of local players who run to join the South African league which pays more.
