Man rips open wife's lover's buttocks

A 37-year-old man from Gokwe has been hauled before the court facing attempted murder charges after he struck his wife's boyfriend with a fire stand twice on the head before ripping open his buttocks with a kitchen knife after he caught him pants down with his wife.
Kumbirai Mariga of Mukokeri village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe North pleaded
guilty to attempted murder when he appeared before Gokwe-Kwekwe regional magistrate, Mr Amos Mbobo. Mariga was remanded in custody to July 2 for trial after the complainant failed to show up for the court due to injuries sustained as a result of the attack.
The state's case as presented by Mr Robert Ndlala was that, the complainant, Mr Alfred Manyika of the same village, was having an affair with Mariga's wife, Ms Veronica Mubarwi. Mr Ndlala told the court that Mariga got a tip-off from fellow villagers about the two's love affair.
On May 30 this year, the accused told his wife that he was going away and would return home after a few days. Mr Ndlala alleged that on the fateful day at around 7 pm, the two love birds made an appointment to meet at the accused person's homestead.
It is also alleged that the two love birds had sex in the accused person's kitchen. However, luck ran out for the two when Mariga unexpectedly returned home and caught the two red handed. Mr Ndlala further alleged that the accused went on to pick a fire stand and struck the complainant twice on the head.
He said complainant became unconscious and the accused went on to cut the complainant's buttocks ripping them open.
The court also head that the complainant was then rushed to Gokwe Hospital where he is battling for life after the attack. Mr Ndlala told the court that the matter was then reported to the police leading to the accused person's arrest.
