President Robert Mugabe has left Harare for Singapore for his routine eye check following a cataract operation there, a state-owned ZBC reported on Tuesday.

"The president left for Singapore for his routine eye check," the ZBC quoted Mugabe spokesperson George Charamba as saying.

"He went for a review following a small medical procedure he underwent in that country. He had a cataract in his eye so that was removed and he was asked to return by opticians."

The President is expected back home at the weekend.

Meanwhile, Vice President Joice Mujuru is the acting president
