Nomination court sits countrywide

The nomination court for the members of the House of Assembly, senatorial, women quarter and provincial councils has begun in different provinces of the country.
In Mashonaland East province the nomination court was officially opened by elections officer Collins Munetsi who is also presiding over the nomination process.
Among those present at the court is former Marondera East House of Assembly member Tracy Mutinhiri who is now representing the MDC-T and prominent lawyer Jonathan Samkange who is likely to stand as an independent after he was disqualified from participating in the Zanu PF primaries in Mudzi South.
In the Bulawayo Metropolitan province, the court is sitting at the Bulawayo Magistrate's Court number five at Tredgold Building, while that for Matabeleland North province is sitting at court seven at the same building.
In Masvingo the nomination court has also begun.
In Mashonaland Central the nomination court kicked off at 10am at the Magistrates Court in Bindura.
Prospective councillors are signing their nominations at district offices.
In Manicaland province the 11 nomination courts have begun with provincial elections officer Moffat Masabeya presiding over the process.
The Mutare Provincial Magistrate's Court is the main nomination court for the house of assembly, senatorial, women's quota and the provincial council while the seven administrative districts and rural district council are spearheading the local government nomination court process.
All prospective candidates from all parties and independent candidates are expected to have filed their papers by 4pm today (Friday).
In Matabeleland North province prospective candidates have began filing their papers at the Nomination Court sitting at the Gwanda Magistrate Court.
The process is being presided over by ZEC provincial elections officer Jotham Nyathi.
Some of the Zanu PF candidates that have so far submitted their papers include National Chairman Simon Khaya Moyo who will represent the party in Bulilima-Mangwe in the senatorial race, Cde Andrew Langa of Insiza North,
Cde Abednego Ncube of Gwanda South, Madodana Sibanda Gwanda North, Edson Gumbo Gwanda Central and Obedingwa Mguni of Mangwe constituency.
Former MDC-T MP Thandeko Zinti Mkandla who together with Nomalanga Khumalo and Norman Mpofu were imposed by the party national executive have also filed his papers, among other candidates from different political parties.
After filing his nomination Cde Khaya Moyo said the process draws the country close to elections that will bring an end to the inclusive government.
He expressed confidence with the calibre of Zanu PF candidates saying they would bring the party to a resounding victory.
