Slain Zanu-PF Ward 18 district chairperson Felix Murombedzi, whose body was found floating in Mazvikadei Dam on Sunday, a week after he mysteriously went missing, had told close family members prior to his death that he feared for his life.

Murombedzi was allegedly abducted from his home at Dalkeith Farm by unknown people in the run-up to the Zanu-PF primary elections and was later found dead.

Family members who spoke on condition of anonymity said Murombedzi received mysterious phone calls on the day of his abduction on June 26.

Chombo, who retained the ticket  to represent Zanu-PF in Zvimba North, reportedly visited Murombedzi's home at the weekend to pay his condolences to the bereaved family.
