Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai says he does not understand why any Zimbabwean would want to vote for an 89-year-old man.
"We have to unite to get rid of Mugabe and I find it senseless for someone to vote for an 89-year old man instead of a younger person," said Tsvangirai while addressing thousands of people at Nyamakwe Business Centre in Chivi central.
He said that the MDC was prepared to go to the polls on the 31st of July and is confident of winning the election.
He said that the MDC will, however, respect any decision that the constitution court will deliver for either an extension of the election date as suggested by SADC.
"As a party we are ready for elections anytime. We are not afraid of going to the polls and I am very confident that we will win since the people have already made a decision. What we are against as a party is going for an election that doesn't guarantee a credible poll.
But we will however honour any decision that will be passed by the Constitution Court with regards to the extension of the 31 July date as hinted by SADC," he said.
PM Tsvangirai added that his party was in support of a coalition with other parties since it strengthens the democratic forces' push for change.
