A 21-YEAR-OLD Sanyati man struck his father to death with bricks and a log after he was told to go and look for cattle that he had lost.
Ndaba Matakadira (21) of Village 5, Jombani in Sanyati was herding cattle on Wednesday last week when he lost the whole herd.
He went home in the evening and told his father John Matakadira about it and he ordered him to go back to the pastures to look for them.
A misunderstanding ensued and Ndaba picked four half bricks which he threw at his father.
One of the bricks landed on the back of his head and he sustained a deep cut. He picked up a log with which he assaulted him several times all over the body.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident adding that investigations were still in progress.
"Investigations are in progress into the murder of a 79-year-old man by his son following a misunderstanding over some lost cattle when he was told to look for the herd," he said.
Ndaba left his father sprawling on the ground with two broken ribs and a deep cut on the head.
