The Zanu-PF First Secretary and President Robert Mugabe has called on the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union (AU) to support the country as it prepares for the harmonised elections.
Addressing thousands of his party's supporters at Pelandaba stadium in Gwanda, Mugabe said: "As we go to the elections we expect our friends of SADC and AU to assist us in this process by encouraging us even materially. We don't expect SADC to be raising lies about us and telling others that the situation in Zimbabwe is not peaceful and that the ground is not even."
The President hailed the Peace and Security Council of the African Union, which met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia yesterday (Friday) which said Zimbabwe is peaceful and has the capacity to hold free and fair elections on the 31st of this month.
"They say the election process is proceeding peacefully and they are encouraging us to go to the elections. But there are some NGOs who had gone there saying there is no money for the elections. We have the money to fund our elections, we might face difficulties but we will look for the money until we are done," said the President.
Mugabe also castigated International Relations Adviser to South African President Jacob Zuma, Lindiwe Zulu saying she has no authority to interfere in Zimbabwean politics.
The President said: "President Jacob Zuma stop this woman of yours from speaking on Zimbabwe. We were given one facilitator with one mouth and that is Jacob Zuma. Zuma can speak and no other voice should speak."
