A UK NGO is reported to be offering free tickets for Zimbabweans in UK wishing to go back to Zimbabwe for a few weeks and take up volunteering at the University Of Zimbabwe's Health Sciences and Vet departments.
It is reported that the free-ticket's conditions stated that the interested persons must be ready to travel to Zimbabwe by the last week of May 2011, and also mentioned are areas in community development, fund raising and HIV training.
The Word Trust International prides itself in having sent 46 professional volunteers to their homeland in the past few years.
On their website, the organisation which is based in Norfolk stated that it is 'a program set up to relieve poverty, sickness and distress of the widows, widowers and orphans especially in Africa by raising awareness, disseminating information and advancing education amoung the orphans, widows and widowers.'
A message read Tuesday:
Dear Friends.
Just to let you know that we have volunteering opportunities for people to take up volunteering in the University of Zimbabwe Department of Health Sciences and the Vet Department and areas in Community Development, Fund Raising, HIV training and many others.
If anyone is interested the persons should be ready to go to Zimbabwe the last week of May for two to three weeks depending on the placement.
We will pay for the ticket and allowances while you are there.
You would also want to know that we are proud of having sent 46 professional volunteers to Zimbabwe already
Please pass on this information.
Thank you all.
