President Mugabe will today round up his election campaign ahead of Wednesday's harmonised polls with the 10th star rally scheduled for the giant National Sports Stadium in Harare.
Zanu-PF organisers decided to shift the rally to the 60 000-seater stadium following the huge enthusiasm expressed by a cross-section of Harare residents.
The revolutionary party's Harare provincial chairman, Cde Amos Midzi, told The Sunday Mail last night that due to an anticipated over-subscription, the rally was moved from Rufaro Stadium to the more spacious sports arena.
"We have mobilised sufficiently for the rally and we have had to move from Rufaro Stadium to the National Sports Stadium because of the anticipated huge crowd expected to attend," said Cde Midzi.
"We figured that Rufaro would be too small for the anticipated crowd. There has been so much enthusiasm and interest and we expect a massive response from the people of Harare.
"Today's rally will be the mother of all rallies. As chairman of Harare province, I am encouraging residents of Harare to turn up early so that they will not miss this epoch-defining rally."
Cde Midzi said gates will open at 6.30am with everyone expected to be seated by 9am. He said the rally would set the stage for Zanu-PF to reclaim the seats it lost to the MDC in Harare.
"There is a definite shift in terms of attitude, expectation and maturity within the electorate. The past five years of domination by the MDC in Harare City Council has clearly exposed the hypocrisy, corruption, maladministration and abuse of power which has awakened the electorate in Harare.
"We expect, with certainty, to regain the ground we had lost as a party in Harare. The residents of the province have now realised that Zanu-PF as a party and its incoming Government will improve their well-being."
