The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says it will continue carrying out its constitutional obligation of maintaining peace, law and order regardless of people's political affiliation.
This follows the arrest of some MDC-T officials who contravened some sections of the Electoral Act on election day.
Police say they have unearthed a rigging scam in which some MDC-T officials were attempting to discredit the electoral process by allegedly stealing the voters roll and SV 11 forms.
Police spokesperson, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the law enforcement authorities believe the move is an attempt to either rig the elections or discredit the electoral process.
She said police have arrested an MDC-T chief elections agent for Budiriro constituency, Anna Bvute who then implicated another party election agent, Phillip Mabika.
The ZRP said Cosmas Kamba, a Harare West constituency election agent has also been arrested after he was found in possession of SV 11 forms.
It is further understood that Kamba implicated Lancelot Mudavanhu who then pointed to a senior MDC-T member, Jessie Majome.
However, Mudavanhu is believed to have changed his statements and alleged the SV 11 forms were distributed at Harvest House, which is the MDC-T headquarters.
The SV 11 forms are supposed to be used by presiding officers only for collating election results.
Responding to a question on why only members of the MDC-T were arrested, Senior Assistant Commissioner Charamba said the organisation's mandate is to arrest criminal offenders and the arrests were based on the commission of a crime and is not in any way political.
