Chiyangwa fails, rebel Kereke wins

Joyce Kazembe, Zimbabwe Electoral Commission deputy chair has relayed results of twenty nine constituencies, the majority of which went to Zanu-PF.

Businessman and Zanu-PF rebel Munyaradzi Kereke has shrugged off competition from Zanu-PF preferred candidate Elias Musakwa a and Heya Shoko of the MDC-T to win the Bikita West seat with 6 270 votes.

Empowerment activist and tycoon Philip Chiyangwa failed in his quest to regain the Chinhoyi seat as his money failed to win him the seat after losing to the incumbent MDC-T's Peter Mataruse. Chiyangwa received 8 561 votes against Mataruse's 9 863 votes.

Zanu PF claimed most seats in Mash West including Webster Shamu's Chegutu West, Mhondoro-Ngezi and Chris Mutsvangwa's Norton.

In Masvingo, Zanu PF regained Zaka North, Zaka Central, Zaka West, Chivi West, Bikita South, Chiredzi South, Chivi Central and Gutu South where Dr Paul Chimedza won with 7 927 votes.
