PRESS STATEMENT
3 August 2013

These are trying times of extreme national anxiety. The MDC leadership has deliberately refrained from speaking prematurely on the outcomes of the election until such time that we have all the facts.

The MDC leadership is studying the official results and reports from its candidates, election and polling agents from across the country with a view to making a comprehensive statement and drawing parameters for the way forward.

In the meantime, we salute and pay tribute to all our candidates across the width and breadth of the country who fought a good fight, but who at this moment feel extremely let down by an election outcome that is clearly difficult to comprehend.

We also thank our members and supporters who have stood by the party, its values and principles in the most of trying times. We salute you for your boldness, and exhibiting the MDC spirit of indomitability and indefatigability.

Our commitment to a democratic Zimbabwe based on devolution of power remains unshakeable.
