THE country's upper courts of law yesterday went on vacation and they will resume normal operations for the third  term  of the year on September 2.

The Constitutional Court, Supreme Court, High Court and Labour Court judges took a break and there will be skeleton staff to handle urgent matters this month.

Chief registrar Mr Walter Chikwanha confirmed the development, saying the vacation ends on September 1.

"Like we normally do, the judges have taken a break for the whole of August and they will all be back for the third term the first week of next month on September 2," he said.

During the vacation, the courts normally entertain bail applications and other urgent applications.
