Former president Thabo Mbeki has called on South Africans to respect the rights of Zimbabweans to choose their own leader.
He's expressed concern that doubts were cast on last week's vote before it even took place.
The former president was speaking during a talk at the University of South Africa in Pretoria on Monday night.
He pointed out that the disputed election is a reflection of the voices of ordinary Zimbabweans.
Mbeki helped broker the power-sharing agreement between the MDC and Zanu-PF in 2008.
