The National Railways of Zimbabwe has announced that there will be no commuter train services in Bulawayo and Harare over the Heroes holiday.
In a statement on Wednesday, NRZ spokesman Fanuel Masikati said the parastatal had suspended the services from 12 to 13 August as most people who use the commuter trains would close for the Heroes holiday.
However, he said there would be additional trains operating from Harare to Bulawayo during the holiday to ferry travellers.
"The NRZ is geared to ferry travellers during the Heroes and Defence Forces holiday. We are putting additional coaches to meet increased demand," he said.
Apart from the Harare-Bulawayo route, Masikati said a daily passenger train service from Bulawayo to Victoria falls would remain operational.
Meanwhile, the NRZ has re-launched its website to provide a platform to interact and communicate with its stakeholders.
