Attorney General Johannes Tomana says the last minute withdrawal of the presidential election petition by MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai is an acceptance that he has no legal basis to challenge the election outcome.

Attorney General who approached the Constitutional Court earlier seeking to be included as a respondent on the grounds that the constitution was being violated by Tsvangirai's time wasting antics said the latest development will allow the country to move forward.

Mr Tomana added that contrary to the allegations laid by Mr Tsvangirai's lawyers prior to withdrawing their case that the Attorney General was not properly executing his duties, he instead had executed his role as a custodian of the Constitution of Zimbabwe.

Tomana castigated the MDC-T leader's attack on the judiciary saying his conduct is criminal and a clear sign of his inability to respect pillars of the state adding that such behaviour should not be left unchallenged.

After Mr Tsvangirai's last minute withdrawal, Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku instructed all parties to the matter to avail themselves at the Constitutional Court on Monday the 19th of August.
