A HARARE woman stands accused of burning her boyfriend's O-level certificate, clothes and stealing $300 after the latter had denied responsibility for her pregnancy.
Modify Musama (26) of Kuwadzana appeared before Mbare magistrate Rueben Mukavhe facing charges of malicious damage to property.
The court heard that on August 13, Musama went to her boyfriend Trymore Hapazari's house around 4pm and burnt clothes worth $200, O-level certificate and stole $300.
Fellow tenants at the house testified in the case saying they saw Musama burning the clothes and certificates.
Hapazari admitted to being responsible for Musama's pregnancy but said he already had a wife. He said the two of them went to Machipisa Police Station following a disagreement over their affair.
The police officers advised them to resolve their differences amicably.
However, Hapazari alleged that Musama paid no heed to the directive and went on to destroy his personal clothes and certificate.
Mr Mukavhe deferred the matter to September 16.
