ZUPA: Congratulations Zimbabwe on non violent elections'
23 Aug 2013 at 17:49hrs | Views
ZUPA, the organisation that represents the interests of millions of economically disadvantaged Zimbabweans and primarily the unemployed is delighted to congratulate all Zimbabweans for voting peacefully. Congratulate all participates for showing interest in political leadership. We therefore want to encourage maturity and oneness going forward, in victory and in defeat.
Whereas in the last 4 years of the GNU, ZUPA focused on economically empowering the ordinary unemployed citizens through the indigenisation share ownership schemes and lobbied hard for debt cancellation re-ZESA, Water, hospital and school fees and other utility bills. We believe this will make a huge difference to most Zimbabweans.
We again call upon the incoming government and concerned ministers, in ministries such as Health and Education to follow the example of minister Chombo and order a write-off of school and heath fees. Let us start a new parliament session with a new chapter and chance for all citizens.
The next 5 years, ZUPA will seek to complement the work of the government in employment creation, business start ups and development of skilled manpower.
We believe it is now time for Zimbabweans to work together in the national interest. We cannot continue to externalise our domestic challenges and expect others like SADC.AU and the EU to solve our problems.
We look positively to a future that accommodates all Zimbabweans and respects our rights and our freedoms.
Yours faithfully
ZUPA Team, Zimbabwe.
