The late Zanu-PF founding member Enos Nkala changed his feelings about being buried at the National Heroes' Acre two years ago and made it clear that he would accept the national hero status, his family said yesterday.
Nkala is on record as having said he did not wish to be buried at the National Heroes' Acre.
Nkala told an online publication that "My being not buried at Heroes Acre does not cancel my status; I don't want to go there, I just don't want".
Family spokesperson Herbert Nkala, however, said while it was true that in 2010 he had expressed displeasure at being at the National Heroes' Acre, he had since changed his mind.
The body of the former Defence, Home affairs, Finance and Economic Growth Minister was taken from Harare to Esigodini yesterday.
