MDC-T meets to chart post-poll roadmap

The MDC-T national executive met yesterday for a two-day post-election strategic planning meeting to review the implications of its electoral defeat and to map the way forward.
MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai and top party officials spent yesterday locked in a secret meeting as the opposition leader rallied his troops for a way forward after disputed polls won by President Mugabe.
Party spokesperson Douglas Mwonziora said the high-profile meeting, being held in Harare, was in response to recent political developments, including the subtle endorsement of the election outcome by Sadc leaders.
Amid reports of deepening fissures in the party caused by a poor showing in the July 31 polls, Tsvangirai is leaving nothing to chance as he is now regrouping but the strategies they agreed on are not yet public.
Meanwhile, MDC-T youth leader and Dzivarasekwa MP-elect Solomon Madzore says his party has already started preparing for fresh elections which should be held within a year under the supervision of Sadc and the African Union.
