Tsvangirai duped over Human Rights Commission chair
05 Sep 2013 at 05:17hrs | Views
Newly elected speaker of the House of Assembly Jacob Mudenda never left Zanu-PF as he was in fact a member of the party's politburo, at the time of his appointment as the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission chairperson.
This was contrary to assertions by MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai that he was not a member of the Zanu-PF politburo.
The disclosure has exposed how Tsvangirai could have been duped into believing that Mudenda was a "politically independent" person who was fit to lead the independent commission.
When Mudenda was chosen for the ZHRC top position there was raucous disapproval over his suitability given his political affiliation and background but Tsvangirai defended his appointment saying his past did not matter.
