President Robert Mugabe is expected to recall and replace in the next few days members of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) who have served as the country's ambassadors overseas under the outgoing coalition government.
The diplomatic envoys are likely to return home after Mugabe announces a new cabinet, which he's expected to do this week.
At least five of the envoys at the country's 47 diplomatic missions were drawn from the MDC.
They've served in Australia, Germany, Nigeria, Senegal and Sudan.
However following the victory of Mugabe's party in elections in July, these envoys will now be recalled to the country along with their colleagues and will likely not be reassigned.
Top foreign affairs ministry official Joey Bimha told the Sunday Mail the envoys were only contracted to serve a four-year term when they were appointed in 2009 when the power-sharing agreement came into effect.
Bimha says the appointment of new ambassadors will likely take place after Mugabe appoints his new cabinet, which, nearly six weeks since the elections, still hasn't been announced.
