60 year jail term for armed robbery

A Marondera magistrate has sentenced two armed robbers who were terrorising people in Mashonaland East province to 60 years in prison.
Provincial Magistrate, Mr Alexio Shumba found the two, Elliot Chipfuwamiti (35) and Robert Foya Hunda (25) guilty of eight counts of armed robbery and four of attempted murder.
According to the State led by Ms Angeline Sithole, the two, who are all from Epworth, Harare, committed the offences between April and October last year.
Chipfuwamiti was arrested after a misunderstanding with a Commuter Omnibus crew and on bring searched, he was found in possession of a fire arm and 27 rounds of ammunition.
He confessed to having committed several crimes implicating his colleague who was arrested later.
